So my doctor asked me if I wanted to sign up for an elective induction a week before my due date. She won't be in town for my due date and also, why not?
I'm still debating, here are my pros and cons.
PROS
- no surprise, no wondering "am I in labor?" and that is huge because I do that every second of every day.
- no last week of tortuous heavy baby
- Kind of fun to share a birthday weekend with Townes. (but will he like that?)
- It is right after our last tradeshow at work so I would be free and clear of any responsibilities and Cory would have finished the Tradeshow Video he will be doing due June 15th.
CONS
- induction usually means harder labor and I was banking that this one would be fast and easy without epidural (saving me the $500 or so)
- A week early means going back to work a week early when we are supposed to be in Canada - technically I could take that week as a vacation, but...
- Will Cory be done the video by June 15th?
- I still won't really know what it is like to spontaneously go into labor, and I am a little curious...
So, what are your opinions! Help me figure it out!

easy summer entertainment
I had a four day weekend and Greg came down to visit. We had a blast, and I'll post the highlights, but first I wanted to show Dotty at her white trash finest, enjoying a fountain in a downtown SLC shopping center.

That's her in her diaper there in the middle. We walked up and she immediately said, "take off my dress please!" so we complied. But then we felt bad for her and ended up getting her a cheap Old Navy suit.

Dotty Discipline
So I just have to document this event today and I don't really have a better place to do it. Bear with me. Two nights ago Cory and I wanted to check out a new mexican restaurant that opened near our home and we started talking about it on the way home. Dotty (who had not had a nap that day, got excited and really really wanted to go to the restaurant.
But at said restaurant she proceeded to have a meltdown. She didn't get a pink ball from the vending machine, she didn't want anything they offered and she was just pretty much despondent from fatigue. So we took her home and fed her tortellini instead. She was VERY upset and kept screaming. At home we explained to her that we couldn't go to the restaurant because she had been screaming and acting out and that she can only go to restaurants when she is a good girl. She ate her tortellini and went straight to bed.
Yesterday, on the way home, we mentioned 'mexican food' - purposely steering clear of the word RESTAURANT as to not cause a stir, but Dot caught on anyway. She said, "I want to go to the restaurant. I'm not going to be screaming". We were surprised that she had remembered the reason we couldn't go before and so we decided to give it a try. She was an angel. She ate nachos, rice and beans and drank some water and didn't worry too much about the ball vending machine. We gave her a big kiss at the end and bought her some gummie bears. What a big girl.

Now it Begins
So I'm now 35 weeks and entering the most tortuous stage. The wait. I've always been really in tune with my body, feeling every little change (maybe that's why I am such a hypochondriac?). Anyway, so now I'm constantly questioning every contraction that comes along - could this progress? It's going to be a long 5 weeks.
