quiet noisy

Quiet Noise

Thanks to Grandma Donnay, Dot has a new favorite book. A few weeks ago, Dotty and I joined Casey and Donnay to the library sale where we found this gem. I love the story and the graphics. And dotty loves the repetition and how it is teaching her new words. I could be just hearing things, but I really think she is saying "no" and sometimes other words. what do you think? You can get this book on ebay or amazon.com. Really, it is awesome inside!

Don't Stop Believin

Dotty has a new favorite half song.
She loves the piano intro to Don't Stop Believin' by Journey.
I bet she would be soooo proud to know that her dad can play this very intro on the piano.
As soon as it gets rockin at 1:21 she freaks out. "Where did my piano go?" she must be thinking.
I hope to get it on video, but I'm sure it will be impossible.

For Nicole

Nicole: You said you'd blog again if you had this picture. Here it is.
Everyone: Isn't Oliver the coolest kid you've ever seen? No wonder Dot is ALWAYS in awe when she's around him.

Seriously, in this one he looks like a model! I'm sure he was in Gap's top 100. Its a tough competition.

Oliver: "Dot, I think...ya I'm pretty sure I can totally jump off this ledge"
Dot: "Do it! That would be soooo cool!"

I have a feeling these two are going to get into a lot of trouble together. Last sunday was the first day Dot could finally walk around with Oliver and there was a lot of giggling going on.

This post is really late, but I'm finally posting on Cory's computer where all the good photos are stored.
Dotty really loved easter. We were lucky to have my parents and sister Anne with us, down from Canada for the whole week. We ate at IHOP, shopped at Target, and walked the Gateway- pretty lame hosting on my part, but in my defense the Canadian dollar was doing really well that week.
D+P invited everyone over for easter sunday. There was an egg hunt which resulted in $15 for dot {which I'm still waiting to deposit into an account for her...now its written in time and so I must not forget}. We ate good food and then played basketball till the wee hours. And I beat Anne's team! booyah.

Here are some pictures Cory took. He's loving his new lenses. PS. Thanks Grandma Hudson for all the gifs, especially this beautiful Easter dress!

A day in the Life

People always ask me what I do, or how my job is going, and I usually dodge the subject because
a)I hate talking about things that are important and dear to me,
b) I feel uncomfortable loving my job so much when I have the loves of my life at home
c)my job is really hard to explain.

Its impossible to record an average day since no day is ever the same and I am constantly performing different tasks, so i thought I'd break it down in terms of what I do within our department.

Right now we are getting ready for three big tradeshows tailored to the Architecture and Design community and this year we happen to be launching 37 new products.
All of this means:

1. We need brochures that show all this new product
- I help out with photography for these brochures by buying props, returning them, doing the grunt work like moving them on set etc. Sometimes, as you've seen- I get to be in them.
- I help write the copy for the brochures, describing the product and trying desperately to describe what we do.
- I help come up with names for the products- Some of my names this year are Tea Party, Spring Fever, and Lattice.

2. We need a tradeshow booth to put this stuff in
- I coordinate meetings for everyone to talk and design the booth- this sometimes means getting lunch
- my job is to coordinate the details of the construction, that means I order product in manufacturing and bring it down to the guy who is building our booth out of powder-coated steele.
- I need to buy monitors to put in the booth to show films of our product in the photoraphy set form.

3. We need tradeshows to show off all this hard work.
- this means I coordinate all the details with the actual tradeshows, travel, hotels, paying for booth space and all the odds and ends.
- I will also go to two of the three tradeshows- thanksfully I'm going to new york and Chicago and NOT Las Vegas. I hate Vegas.

And in the midst of this we are launching a new website that needs photography and copy, we constantly get donation requests or "unique marketing opportunities" that I have to evaluate and {usually} deny and there is always ads due that I need to get extensions for and giveaways to coordinate.

I hope that kind of makes sense. Its a lot of fun, Its a lot of doing lots of things at a time, which I love. But by the time I get home I just want to play with Dot in her corner.

here's that Spring Fever I was telling you about. The chair in the final shot is held up by my shoe.
ps. i'm not pregnant. Just poor posture and an unfortunate top.

piggy tales

Dot's hair got pretty long for awhile. We have since given her a little haircut (i'll post some pictures of it, along with my chop chop a bit later), but I thought these pictures of her with pigtails were so cute. Doesn't she look old? I can't believe my little baby girl is a bonafide toddler.
Today in church she sat next to the sunbeams (who we teach) and clapped along as we sang "book of mormon stories." So cute.
Well, enjoy. Sarah Montes Reinhardt, these are for you.

This one shows her new haircut, although she is outside playing so it is still a little unruly. I'm not real experienced in workin with curls.

Furry Happy Monster

Dotty has this on TiVo and she goes nuts over it. I took some video this morning of her going crazy over her favorite songs in her couch corner. I'll post them tomorrow.
ps. this guy cuts my hair.

Eye Twins

I'm pretty sure Dotty got Casey's eyes. They are big, smiley and beautiful. Wouldn't you agree?
